Capsule History

Last tournament at the Stamford Marriott Hotel, with 915 in-person contestants. Registration maxed out the facility more than two months before the event. Program highlights included a geographical wordplay game, "Mental Geog-ing," by Will Shortz. Lynn Lempel received the Merl Reagle MEmoRiaL Award. Patrick Creadon spoke and showed extra clips from his 2006 documentary "Wordplay." On Sunday morning A.J. Jacobs and Greg Pliska conducted a live taping of their podcast "Hello, Puzzlers!" Erik Agard won the tournament for the second time.
